The past few weeks I have been going through a ton of depression. I don’t think anyone really noticed, and I am not always the type to point out my struggles.
This weekend fixed that. For the first time in a long time I had intentions of going to the fair, rather than “just going” to show up because it was an expectation. I was excited for it and even told myself I was not going to do my normal routine of showing up and leaving.
It started with Daddy Ray’s brunch at the Eagle. I was surprised that we had so many titleholders there. Usually we see a mass flood of titleholders for Folsom, and a few for Dore, but this year seemed like a lot.
I met a ton of great people and was happy to be there to support someone I consider a dad to me. I eventually went and toured the fair. The fair was expanded. It’s interesting because I’ve heard people complain that it was too crowded on the main strip which was a block longer and not enough people on the side streets. The irony here is that in the past, the main strip, being smaller in size always felt empty.
Eventually I went over to the Eagle and enjoyed it despite how crowded it was. Stayed for a couple of drinks and eventually came closer to home in the Castro. My social battery was depleted around 8pm and it was time to head home.
None the less today is recovery day and time to decompress. I didnt take many pics but mostly at Ray’s pre-Dore brunch at the Eagle.
