MLC Major League Cricket Finals

I had the opportunity to go to the Major League Cricket Finals at Oakland Colleseum. I had never even watched a professional cricket match, so I was unsure what to expect.

I found the sport interesting. Mostly because it felt like baseball on crack. Everything felt out of whack. I mean you use half the field with people on each side of the mound. Pitchers go into a full run before throwing a ball, full arm circle and bouncing it off the dirt. Then you have guys running back and forth… well sort of because often enough they walked about 5 feet and then stopped. I still don’t understand that.

The scoring is also odd to me. I mean, every tap but I didn’t really see a lot of taps but yet the scores are over 100?

Lastly I was in the mindset of American Baseball or Football. I wanted that beer and a corn dog. Boy was I wrong in that. It turns out, the sport is very popular in Indian culture, and I think we looked out of place.

Anyway, it was a good time learning even just a fraction of the sport. I went with my bestie and we had 6th row seats.
